Ποίησις, Poiesis, Creating, is a moving image installation that takes the dual form of a theatre and studio to reveal the process of a story ‘In the Beginning was the Wood’ emerging through performance, sculpture and music. The instruments play an integral role in bringing the world to life, with a toy piano, a dulcimer, a psaltery and an aeolian harp played by the wind. A deer hides in fear from a wolf, a dragon guards her cave, a fox plays his piano and a woodpecker drums in the distance. A film within a film or a cat’s nested dream, viewers are invited to wonder and wander through this process of creation.

Vincent Caetano (Oxford, 1997) enjoys making sculptures and is interested in storytelling, worldbuilding and the origins of the moving image through puppetry, light and magic. His installations play with space to create a live experience of active curiosity for the audience as if stumbling upon a travelling circus.
