On social media, the exposure of images and discourse is always accompanied by a kind of unknown violence, due to the fact that it involves the way people are viewed and discussed. “Sizing Up, at Pleasure” revolves around the trend of mimicking Tourette’s syndrome that has emerged on social networks, tracking the process of people assembling a set of interactive mechanisms in a network of things, heated debates over the authenticity of symptoms, images and words. In this process, viewers and others (including those who are viewing it) both try to create a variety of complex emotional connections that are intertwined with the possibility of misrepresentation and extension.

I am a multimedia artist who lives in/works between China and Norway. My work often begins with fleeting images from everyday life—such as body parts that are accidentally captured in photos, or language fragments in online comments. These vague "stand-ins" inspire my interest in how non-linear and fast-changing images and language spaces can be transformed into video narratives. Essentially, I try to toss these elements into a temporary viewing structure, allowing their collisions and drift to open up narrative possibilities.
