Tapewo: dreamcore confession, 2023
Single-channel video installation, sound, duration: 5min looped.

The closest moment to absolute spirit occurs in the instant when humans open their eyes, close them, and fall asleep. Order and chaos coexist in our relationship with the soul and metaphysical entities. I peel off layers of adhesive tape; I light a candle and wait for it to burn out completely. Reality and illusion intertwine within physical space and threshold space, but where are their boundaries?

'Tapewo: dreamcore confession' is an experimental animated  artists‘ film created by RcTeresa in 2023, which combines hand-drawn animation images with performance. This film remains a constituent part of artist RcTeresa's tape universe, drawing inspiration from the artist's childhood moments of dozing off during prayer, capturing the subtle relationship between humans and the absolute spirit in such a state. The tape metaphorically represents patterns, consumption, and the intricate flow of consciousness. The constant switch between abstract and concrete imagery in the film is based on the artist's exploration of dreamcore space.

On show as part of the Department of Art Postgraduate Degree Shows 20-25 July 2023 in Laurie Grove Baths Small Pool, Goldsmiths University of London.

RcTeresa, Tapewo:dreamcore confession, 2023
RcTeresa is an artist filmmaker who is dedicated to exploring cross-cultural aesthetics and philosophies and finding cultural commonalities, who works with frame-by-frame hand-drawn animation. Tape, is her constant source of inspiration to create "Tapewo", a de-functional, visual symbolic system. For this exhibition, RcTeresa will present a new animation integrating sculpture and film: a dreamcore confession, where a protagonist gazing at the tape considers concepts such as self, others, experience and reality.

Tapewo-gaze, 2023
Single-channel video installation.

Where two moons embrace each other, I see tape.
From the blank of the tape I see the hallucination which nourishes the boundless Spectacle.
I chase the light and shadow but it's like a mirage.
Fragile, illusory, and dreamlike.
I heard murmur coming from the mirror.
where?
