Earmarks is a film exploring collapsing perspective within simultaneously intimate and public spaces. Five age old friends fall together and apart through a narrative that falls back and forth in time. Minor and major moments become blurred as fleeting interactions paint loss and joy with the same brush. In a backdrop of cultural spaces disintegrating and reforming simultaneously, Earmarks attempts to paint a picture of the humanising effect of corroborated memory.

I am a sound artist and filmmaker working in experimental documentary and narrative film. My work dissects the effects of hyper-transience in local spaces through empathy, humour and gut feeling. Modern human narratives have become more fragmented; I let my collaborators explore what those fragments sound and look like. In my most recent film, we explore the chaos of public grief and addiction, tracing how conflicting emotional responses can reflect a wider sense of cultural spaces in free fall. I try and catch these moments, preserve them and contextualise them. Our spaces are a cultural black box that I interrogate in dark rooms.
