Neither Fish Nor Fowl (2025)
Digital video and 16mm, 16m
Extraordinary (2025)
Digital animation, 1m 30s, loop
In 2018, a cow in Poland escaped en route to the slaughterhouse, swam across a lake to a nearby island, and swiftly unsettled the rhythms of a small town—soon becoming a minor media sensation. This film revisits the events, tracing the stories we tell about the countryside, other species, and the invisible lines of power that shape who gets to speak.
Clara Helbig is a filmmaker and artist whose work explores human, animal, and landscape entanglements. Her work has been shown internationally at exhibitions and film festivals, with her short film disjointed (2020) winning the Deutscher Kurzfilmpreis Documentary Short Film Award.
